  • Amy Jane Johnson | Amapola Gallery

Amy Jane Johnson Amy Jane has lived in New Mexico for forty-plus years and sewing longer than that. She creates scarves, unstructured jackets, and tie-die bamboo socks and onesies. Her ‘shrugs’ add a dressy but comfy touch of easy-to-wear warmth to any outfit. She enjoys the ‘hand’ of silks, raw silks and velvets, and she dyes her own to achieve rich, eye-popping colors. Amy Jane is multi-talented: a beader, singer with the Sweet Adelines, and a functional potter.

  • Elzbieta Kaleta | Amapola Gallery

Elzbieta Kalata My art creative process is all about colors, shapes, patterns, and textures explored in the medium of paper cutout (popular and famous in my native country, Poland). Same interests and tendencies apply to other media I enjoy working with, such as collage, mixed media, and photography.

  • Lynda Burch | Amapola Gallery

Lynda Burch All my adult life I have admired luscious, juicy paintings and vowed I would learn to do this art form. I began in 1994, loving the way the colors mix together on the paper in unexpected patterns. The mystery offers excitement as you listen to the art unfold on its own, letting go of your control and experiencing spontaneous expressions on the paper. I am now using acrylic in this way. I like using color in a big vibrant way creating moods to set the tone of the work. Free, bold and strong are words often used to describe my art. I am constantly turned on by new challenges and love experimental methods using layering techniques. Collage has become a major thrust in my work when I discovered old stamps, maps, wine labels, sheet music and more.

  • Kevin Damazyn | Amapola Gallery

Kevin Damazyn Kevin Damazyn Kevin Damazyn is an Albuquerque native who grew up with a great appreciation for the natural landscapes that exist here. The stunning layers of rock that develop on the mesas inspired him to stain and layer clay. The colors of the sunsets inspired him to experiment with layering glazes in new and exciting ways. When you look closely at these glazes and marbled forms, look to see if you can find any shapes, like when watching clouds. Kevin started his pottery journey in high school making boxes and a clay shoe. He was never able to get that clay shoe to fit right, so ever since 2017 he has been making functional ware. There is really nothing like drinking or eating from a handmade piece, as you will soon find out. If you are on Instagram you can find more of his work @high.desert.pottery

  • Randi Snidow | Amapola Gallery

Randi Snidow Randi is the mother of two girls and seven grandchildren. She grew up in Albuq. where she attended Manzano high school, CNM and later UNM. Creative roots stem from Randi's early years and after high school she enrolled at the University of NM where she pursued an art degree. However, a detour led the artist into the field of dental hygiene propelling her into a world of three-dimensional art such as teeth. A very hands-on person, Randi found herself thriving on caring for the public while enjoying the art of tooth morphology. After 27 years as a dental hygienist Randi retired at the onset of the pandemic. With her health career behind her, this mostly self-taught artist was now free to pursue her love for art in the medium of oils, pastels and Gouache. No matter what the choice of subject, Randi works at capturing the mood and personality of her focus. Human & animal portraits have been a favorite but recently she has ventured into the world of ranch life with recent paintings of private cattle herds, cowgirl portraits and still life such as boots. Randi works from photos and has done several commission pieces. Throughout her 27 years of dental hygiene Randi sold her work privately and to the public. After her retirement she embraced the world of art more seriously and genuinely loves creating new works. The choice of paint Randi uses is professional, non-fade grade (oil paint, oil pencils or Gouache) and is applied to either mixed media portrait paper, canvas or aquabord (clay covered art board ). At completion of her paintings, Randi seals them with a museum quality professional UV protective varnish. randi@snidowart.com www.snidowart.com

  • Sandra Moench | Amapola Gallery

Sandra Moench I have been making functional pottery since 1978; vessels of service, with rounded shapes for hugging between your hands. Please take these pots and enjoy them; make golden cornbread and eat it off a blue plate. Slice red tomatoes into a green bowl. Cook pinto beans in a cream casserole. Pile flowers in a vase. Serve them to the ones you love. Enjoy the touch, the odors, the colors, and the love that we get from God.
