Debbie Jones
Debbie Jones is an artist specializing in fabric collage, art quilts and fiber fusion. Her fascination with color and fabric started early with crafts and sewing and later led to fashion design. In 1990, after winning a quilt in a charity raffle, she became intrigued with quilts and decided to try making them herself. After studying many techniques, she began to create one-of-a-kind art quilts that express her artistic flair, working both by hand and machine, breaking the rules just for fun.

Then an auto accident sidelined Debbie’s health and her quilting for twelve years. While recovering but still addicted to playing with fabric, she developed a unique method for making no-sew fabric collage landscapes, seascapes and abstracts, which are mounted flat and then matted and framed. They are “fabric paintings”!

Now, Debbie is making art quilts again and continues to make fabric collages with renewed energy and enthusiasm. Always looking for new ideas and techniques, she has recently been working with loose, unspun fibers to make fiber fusion fabric that she includes in many of her art quilts. This
evolved into making 3-D fiber vessels from the fibers alone or with fibers bonded to thin fabrics. Fairy lights make these vessels glow at night, backlit so you can see the wispy multi-layers of
fibers. Lately she has also been painting loose fibers or one-of-a-kind fabrics directly on upcycled
glass vases.

Debbie enjoys the meditative feeling she experiences during the creative process and loves knowing that those who collect her work enjoy the final results. It is her joy to make and share these objects of beauty. Her fiber art is in collections around the world and has also been shown in galleries and fine art shows where she has won numerous awards.

Always looking for a creative challenge, Debbie welcomes the opportunity for custom orders from her studio in Albuquerque and would be pleased to meet with you in person or online. If you are interested in seeing more of her artwork or learning her fiber art techniques, please visit
